Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 October 2026
1. Who we are
Kobo is operated by KoboPayments Limited, an Irish company that is currently being incorporated ("Kobo", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Kobo you agree to these terms.
2. Closed beta and test money
Kobo is in a closed beta. Access is by invitation, features may change or be withdrawn, and the service may be interrupted. Do not use it for amounts you cannot afford to have delayed.
Some money in the beta is test money, not real funds. Where we know this, the app and our emails say so.
3. Your account
Give accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your password and PIN private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
If someone sends you money before you have an account, you can claim it with the link we email to the address they gave. Anyone who can open that email can use the link, so keep it private.
4. Your balance
Your balance is shown in USDC, a digital dollar (stablecoin), and converted to your chosen currency for display. It is a balance recorded in Kobo's own ledger. It is not a bank deposit, earns no interest, and is not covered by any deposit guarantee or deposit insurance scheme.
The value of USDC depends on its issuer. We do not guarantee it will keep its value against the US dollar or any other currency.
5. Fees
Kobo charges no fee of its own during the beta. Third-party payment providers may charge their own fees when you add money, and the payout partner applies its own exchange rate and fees when money is cashed out.
6. Unclaimed transfers
Money sent to someone without an account is taken from the sender's balance and held for 14 days. If it is not claimed in that time, it is returned to the sender's balance.
7. Cashing out
During the beta, every cash-out is reviewed and approved manually before it is sent, so it is not instant. We may decline or delay a cash-out, for example to check it is legitimate. If a cash-out does not go ahead, the amount is returned to your balance.
You must give correct bank details. We cannot recover money paid to an account you entered incorrectly.
8. Third-party providers
Adding money and cashing out rely on third-party payment providers and a payout partner, whose own terms and identity checks may apply to you. We are not responsible for delays, refusals or outages caused by them or by the Solana network.
9. Suspension and closing your account
We may suspend or restrict an account, or refuse or reverse a transaction, where reasonably needed to comply with law, prevent fraud or misuse, protect other users, or because these terms were broken. Where the law allows, we will tell you why.
You can stop using Kobo at any time. To close your account or ask about a remaining balance, email Supportwithkobo@gmail.com.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by third-party providers, blockchain networks or events outside our reasonable control. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Irish law and the courts of Ireland, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.
